The option is no longer available in the Android version.
Practically every cloud storage offers the option of
automatically backing up photos and videos from the smartphone. This is useful
because the files will not be lost even if the phone goes out of business or is
stolen. Of course, Google Photos for Android and iOS also offers this function
in tandem with the in-house storage Google Drive. So far, this worked either
for pictures and / or videos via mobile Internet, i.e. whenever the device was

you can still set with a separate switch whether photos and videos are backed
up via "mobile data". The Android app, on the other hand, has
recently started offering settings for the "daily limit for backup"
after tipping on mobile data usage . Here you can determine that no data will
be backed up via the mobile network., 10MB , 30MB, or the Unlimited option .

Uploading via cellular network can only be restricted in Google Drive for
Android using a daily data limit - in remarkably small steps.
What the
change means in practice
In fact, the supposed innovation is not all that new - the
search engine giant introduced it in March 2019 in India and other countries
where many people have difficult access to the Internet. Like googlefound that
many users there had not backed up their photos for weeks due to a lack of
access to WiFi networks. The daily limit for uploading via cellular network is
intended to give users in these regions more control over the data volume they
have used, and it certainly makes sense there. In industrialized countries,
however, the function is rather a hindrance: With only 30 megabytes per day, a
single video can go beyond the scope and prevent the timely upload of photos,
as the upload of videos can no longer be deactivated separately. Even if you
only snap photos, the quota is quickly used up, especially since Google did not
introduce the "Express" quality option with reduced resolution in
this country at the same time as the daily limits. Since the change in the USA
